Childcare Volunteer Work

In Cusco, many orphanages, institutions and organizations give support to children who come from poor families and in some cases children who do not have parents. In these places, we work giving support to these children so they can have a better lifestyle. For these types of institutions, the support of volunteers in working with children is very important.

The work of the volunteers in Cusco is to help the children with school homework in mathematics, languages, art, history, etc. Volunteers also do artistic activities with children such as painting, drawing and making crafts. The part of the games is not outside of this volunteer work, the volunteer can organize different physical activities and games with the children. In many of the projects, it is important that children learn English as a second language, so teaching English to these children is another way to collaborate with them and also do music activities.

There are many needs for children who attend these types of organizations in Cusco and the work that these volunteer projects do to ensure that children have better opportunities for the future is great. Volunteer programs with children are open in the afternoon and all children speak Spanish, so it is important to speak a little Spanish, so you can have an active communication with the children. You do not need to have an advanced level; it is necessary at least to understand something that children talk about. It will be good to have Spanish classes in Cusco at the same time that you do your volunteer work or do the Spanish lessons at the school before starting the volunteer program.

• Time at least two weeks.

Costs involved with volunteering

Volunteering in Cusco will involve some costs. The projects we work with do not help you with your expenses for food, accommodation, flight/transport to get to Cusco and other expenses that may be involved. Most projects ask for a small donation to help, that you pay directly to the project. To us, you pay a $30 USD mediation fee to cover our costs.
