Ofrendas Pachamama

On August 1st, Pachamama Day (Mother Earth) is celebrated. This celebration is probably the most popular payment ceremony for the Andean culture peoples.

The Pachamama or Mama Pacha was very revered in the time of the Incas, being considered a protective and providing deity in charge of nourishing, protecting and keeping the men living in it in well-being.

On this day the Andean culture pays tribute to Mother Earth in gratitude for the protection and food provided to the human being during the past year.

Thanks to the amazing work done by the Pachamama during this Andean year, that on August 1 the Mother Earth is allowed to rest, entertaining and feeding her, according to the customs of the area, for example hollows are made in the earth and They bury coca leaves, chicha, wine, fruits, corn, quinoa, potatoes, beans, and all kinds of typical local foods.

At the end of the burial of the offerings these are covered with dirt and subsequently given smoking.
